After his father's retirement from the state customs service, Adolf Hitler spent most of his childhood in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. It remained his favourite city throughout his life, and he expressed his wish to be buried there. Hitler died in 1903, but left an adequate pension and savings to support. In 1913 Hitler moved to, Munich. Screened for Austrian military service in February 1914, he was classified as unfit because of inadequate physical vigour; but when World War I broke out he immediately volunteered for the German army and joined the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment...
He served throughout the war and was gassed two years later. He was hospitalized when the conflict ended. Hitler insisted that the chancellorship was the only office he would accept. On January 30, 1933, Hindenburg offered him the chancellorship of Germany. His cabinet included few Nazis at that point. He was born in the Austrain empire in 1889 , the son of a low-level customs official. He was poor student, which led to conflicts with his father, who wanted him to train for a career as a minor official.
